Base Titanium Limited (BTL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Australian and UK-listed resources company, Base Resources Limited (ASX and AIM: BSE). Located in Kwale County, the mine uses Hydraulic Mining to extract ore from ground. The gravimetric and electromagnetic properties of the mineral fractions are used to separate the valuable heavy minerals comprising ilmenite, rutile and zircon from slimes and sand. Ilmenite and rutile are trucked to the Likoni Ship loading Facility located at Likoni 50km north of the Mine site and adjacent to the Port of Mombasa. Zircon and some rutile are containerized and trucked to container export facilities in the Port of Mombasa.
